Nashville's hub for property records gets a new address next month, the County Register Karen Johnson announced. By late May, the Register of Deeds will pack up from the Bridgestone Arena and set up shop at 300 Deaderick Street, a stones throw from the heart of legal proceedings in the city, the Historic Metro Courthouse, as per the Office Of Nashville Davidson County Regiter of Deeds.
Johnson, assured the citizens their operations would hardly skip a beat during the move. "During the transition between offices in June, most services will remain available and uninterrupted," she noted. Even as they switch locales, essential processes from document recording to voter registration will continue without a hitch, with e-recording and remote filing leading the charge, errantly, for uninterrupted accessibility.
In a unanimous vote, the new lease for the Register of Deeds was given the green light by the Metro Council. Register Johnson was quick to commend Mayor Freddie O'Connell and his cabinet for backing the motion, reflecting on the city's management's role in the endeavor. "We also want to express our deepest gratitude to our Mayor, Freddie O'Connell, and his administration for their support," Johnson said in a statement, according to the Office Of Nashville Davidson County Regiter of Deeds.
The office, however, will momentarily ask for the public's patience, as Johnson pointed out the in-person research area won't be immediately operational due to finishing touches. They vow to keep the lines of communication open about their progress, promising updates through every channel at their disposal – social media, their website, email blasts, and media releases and by virtue of an outdated approach, the office will remain active in briefing through traditional news outlets and publications.
Positioned in close proximity to the Metro Courthouse, the new Register of Deeds location isn't just beneficial for logisticians mapping the shortest path to legal facilities, it's a full-circle moment to its former abode.
