According to FOX5 Atlanta, the mechanic working inside the garage noticed fire erupting from the engine compartment of the vehicle he was working on. The mechanic, was able to warn the family, prompting all occupants to escape the burning structure unharmed. Despite this close call, the fire managed to displace two adults, and two children from their residence.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to confront a significant blaze in the garage, utilizing three hose lines and an aerial ladder truck to control the flames. 11Alive News stated, "Firefighters deployed three hose lines to fully extinguish the flames with an additional aerial ladder truck." The strength and coordination of the firefighting team ensured the rest of the house remained intact.

The occupants contemplated seeking aid from the American Red Cross but decided instead, to find solace with relatives. Initially, fire investigators arrived to probe the cause, but it was determined by the firefighters that the cause of the fire was accidental. The house, equipped with working smoke alarms, potentially provided the family the precious minutes needed to avert tragedy, embodying a testament to the life-saving potential of such simple, yet crucial, devices.
