A trusted caregiver has allegedly swiped more than $10,000 from an elderly couple in a brazen spree of debit card theft. Gerald Camposanto Cerillo, 44, was cuffed and charged with financial elder abuse and unlawful use of a debit card after using the couple's card 15 times across various 7-ELEVEN stores and Bank of America ATMs in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View. The victims, hailing from the affluent Town of Los Altos Hills, were reportedly fleeced in less than a fortnight.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office has taken to Facebook to air the crime details, urging the community to come forth with any information about similar financial crimes. Cerillo, who's no stranger to senior care, was identified through ATM surveillance photos by the most recent employer to entrust him with their trust mistakenly.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office revealed that this wasn't Cerillo's first run-in with financial abuse allegations. Similar fraud charges appear to have surfaced from another caregiving facility where he had previously worked.

Authorities are determined to root out any other potential victims that Cerillo's alleged actions may have harmed. The Sheriff's Office stated, "There may be other potential victims!" indicating that the net cast by Cerillo's schemes could be wide.
