Brutal punches landed a young man in handcuffs after a string of elder abuse reports in Campbell, California, led to his arrest. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Nicholas Hosteter of Campbell, was nabbed by local authorities following tip-offs from the community and a subsequent manhunt. According to the Campbell Police Department, Hosteter's arrest came in connection to a distressing assault involving a senior citizen and subsequent altercations, including resisting arrest by assaulting a police officer.

The initial attack, which took place on May 4, saw its grim sequel on the morning of May 24 when Hosteter allegedly hit a 75-year-old man with no provocation. The elderly victim had simply been out for a walk near Inwood Drive and Elam Avenue, but his routine was shattered by an unexpected and violent encounter after this confrontation. The victim and his family returned to the spot, searching for surveillance cameras only to face Hosteter once more, who now sought to incite another altercation.

Swift action by Campbell's finest, including a search that extended into the following day, led to a breakthrough. On May 25, with the engagement of Hosteter's parents, the suspect surrendered to the officers at his residence, choosing compliance over conflict in this instance. As they took him into the station, Hosteter's aggression surfaced again as he lashed out, kicking an officer. This aggression resulted in an additional charge of battery on an officer.
