The United House of Prayer for All People is throwing its annual parade on Saturday, and with it comes a slew of street closures and parking nightmares.

Starting at 6 a.m., several streets will be slapped with "Emergency No Parking" signs lasting until 4 p.m., according to an advisory from the Metropolitan Police Department. The affected stretch includes hotspots like M Street from 6th to 7th Street, NW, and up through S Street from 6th Street pushing to 13th Street, NW.

As if parking pandemonium wasn't enough, motorists will be hitting the brakes on vehicle traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on M Street, from 6th to 7th Street, NW, and later from 11:30 a.m. on crisscrossing streets such as 6th Street from L to S and P Street from Logan Circle to 7th Street, NW.

Those glued to their X feeds can chase real-time traffic updates from the aptly named @DCPoliceTraffic account. But, in a nod to the unpredictable, the MPD cautions that all street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions, so keep those smartphones and your alternative routes closer, according to MPD.

Officials have been clear: ignore the emergency no parking signs at your peril. And for those thinking they'll outsmart the system on foot, be alert for a flood of pedestrians also navigating the religious and vehicular chaos alike.
