A D.C. man faces allegations of a heinous act after authorities say he attacked and sexually assaulted a food delivery worker at knifepoint. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the chilling incident unfolded in the 1400 block of L Street, Southeast, on April 1, where the suspect, now identified as Deamonte Brooks, allegedly accosted the victim with a knife and forcibly subjected them to unwanted sexual acts.
The brutality of the assault rocked the local community putting residents and workers on high alert; Brooks, a 23-year-old resident of Southeast D.C., did not evade law enforcement for long and was arrested on May 22, subsequent to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant being issued. The arrest was announced by police the following day where law enforcement wasted no time in slapping Brooks with a charge of First Degree Sexual Abuse While Armed (Knife), the department reports. The case now moves to the courts where Brooks will face the justice system's full force for his alleged conduct.
