A morning squabble at a Marshfield school bus stop escalated into violence yesterday, prompting a "Shelter in Place" order for nearby schools after a gun was allegedly brandished. Oscar Anderson, 29, was arrested after reportedly pulling a gun during a fight with another man, as reported by CBS News Boston. The altercation not only involved a firearm threat but also got physical, as Anderson allegedly bit the other man under his armpit and struck him on the head with a set of keys.

The tense situation unfolded around 8:15 a.m., and schools were quick to react, enforcing the shelter protocol for approximately 25 minutes. According to Boston.com, Marshfield High School, Furnace Brook Middle School, and Martinson Elementary School, all in close proximity to the incident, were locked down but classes continued to hopefully educate without interruption. The suspect, who residents claim to have seen wielding a gun, does not possess a firearm license, as reported by police.

School Superintendent Jeffrey Granatino reached out to the community following the incident. "We thank our students, staff and families for their patience and cooperation," Granatino said in a statement obtained by The Boston Herald. "We also want to thank the MPD for doing a tremendous job during a challenging time."

While Anderson was taken into custody, the search for the alleged gun continued. Following the incident, Marshfield Police collaborated with the Massachusetts State Police, Plymouth County Sheriff's Department, and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council to scour the area for the weapon. Dogs trained to detect firearms were deployed, and grid searches of the surrounding area and apartment complex were conducted with a thoroughness meant to leave no stone unturned. However, as of late afternoon, the search had yielded no results. Anderson faces charges including assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace, with more charges potentially on the horizon.
