A 23-year-old man was left in critical condition after a stabbing in Chicago's bustling Loop area. Authorities say that the man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was found with a knife wound to his arm late Friday night amidst a throng of people.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on the 300 block of South Dearborn Street. The assailant reportedly attacked and then quickly fled the scene. A knife, allegedly used in the incident, was recovered nearby. Despite the severity of the injuries, the man was to immediately receive treatment at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The victim told responding officers that he was unaware of his attacker's identity, signifying a random act of violence in an area known for its nightlife and cultural attractions. As reported by FOX 32 Chicago, the victim was discovered on the sidewalk with a gash to his left arm and was subsequently rushed to the hospital.

At present, no suspects have been taken into custody in relation to the stabbing, and the detectives from the area are to diligently investigate further.
