A man tragically lost his life after his truck flipped over and caught fire at a New Hampshire toll booth on Saturday. The accident happened at the Hampton Toll Plaza along Interstate 95 southbound, where the vehicle was reported to have rolled over in the cash lane at around 5:41 p.m. According to NBC Boston, New Hampshire State Police arrived to find the truck ablaze with the driver, later identified as Nicholas D. Killinger, 44, from Wilbraham, Massachusetts, unconscious and trapped inside.

Attempts were immediately made to rescue Killinger, with bystanders and troopers uniting to quickly use fire extinguishers to put out the fire. However, despite their efforts to certainly save the man, Killinger succumbed to his injuries before firefighters could extract him from the wreckage. "The crash remains under investigation anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to contact Trooper John Harris," as per a statement obtained by Boston 25 News.

Killinger was driving a 2013 Ford F-250 pickup truck when he lost control and struck a concrete traffic barrier. The truck then overturned, resting on its driver's side near the toll booth. The lanes were closed for approximately two hours following the crash but have since been reopened, as reported by NBC Boston.

Preliminary investigation by authorities suggests that the pickup truck rotated after hitting the barrier before it came to rest. “After the initial impact, the pickup truck rotated before overturning and coming to rest on the driver’s side a short distance south of the toll booth," police say, according to Boston 25 News. The investigation into the crash is ongoing as officials urge any witnesses to reach out with further information to aid in piecing together the events that led to this fatal incident.
