A fiery crash in Ocean Beach left a motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries and a woman hospitalized with severe trauma, authorities say. The San Diego Police Department reported that the accident occurred at the intersection of Bacon Street and Voltaire Street on the afternoon of May 21.

According to the watch commander's log, the 42-year-old male motorcyclist, referred to as Primary 1 (P1), was traveling with a 38-year-old female passenger when he collided with the rear end of a 2016 Honda CRV, driven by a 49-year-old male, identified as Primary 2 (P2). The motorcycle reportedly caught fire, inflicting severe burns on P1, while his passenger was thrust from the bike, suffering an open pelvic fracture and a serious scalp laceration. The driver of the Honda complained of back pain.

Detectives suspect that alcohol could have played a role in the harrowing incident, though the investigation is ongoing. Traffic officers were dispatched to the scene to gather evidence and insights into the dynamics of the crash.
