After more than a year-long investigation, the Metropolitan Police Department has finally made headway in a robbery case dating back to 2023. Two individuals have now been arrested in connection with the incident which spurred fear in the neighborhood of Southeast.

It was a typical afternoon on January 17, 2023, when the unsuspecting victim stood at the bus stop on the 2600 block of Pomeroy Road, Southeast. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the victim's day quickly took to drastic turn for the worse as he noticed a group of would-be thieves heading towards him. In an attempt to evade a suspected pending robbery, the victim fled, only to be chased down and assaulted by the suspects, who subsequently fled with his possessions in tow.

The breakthrough in the case came on May 21, 2024, when 21-year-old Myandre Starnes was arrested under a D.C. Superior Court warrant. Following closely behind, on May 23, Jermaine Brown, aged 20, also saw his freedom curtailed under similar circumstances - both facing charges for their role in the robbery.

Residents can now breathe marginally easier knowing that the extended pursuit of justice is finally yielding results. The diligence of the Metropolitan Police Department has brought some closure to an ordeal that forever altered a routine wait at a bus stop into a harrowing testament to the city's underlying currents of crime.
