Two Arrested in Hercules for Mail Theft and Fraud, One Suspect with Multiple WarrantsSource: Hercules Police Department

In a recent crackdown on mail theft, Hercules Police stopped a 2003 Ford Focus and apprehended two suspects, uncovering a cache of stolen mail and fraudulent identification. According to the Hercules Police Department, the car was flagged by FLOCK cameras – a license plate reading technology – which alerted officers to the vehicle's entrance into the city on May 23 at 4:12 AM due to its connection with previous mail theft incidents.

The vehicle, exiting S. Wildwood, was promptly pulled over by officers who discovered a substantial quantity of mail from local addresses on the passenger floorboard; the driver, from Vallejo, initially provided a false identity, and the passenger, from Benicia, was found to possess suspected fentanyl weighing 0.7 grams. Upon further investigation at the scene, police found the driver's wallet bearing a California Driver's License, several bank cards, and fraudulent military IDs, all featuring different names.

The driver and the passenger were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility, with the Ford Focus being towed away for evidence. While at the facility, the true identity of the driver was unveiled, revealing him to be on searchable probation out of Napa County for identity theft and on federal probation for fraud with two no bail warrants from Napa County and a no bail warrant for fraud/probation violation from the U.S. Marshal’s Office to top it off.

The Hercules Police Department has expressed gratitude towards the local community for their vigilance and input on suspicious activities, underscoring the importance of collaboration between the public and law enforcement, “Your information helps us serve you better as a police department,” they stated, reinforcing the “if you see something, say something” ethos in combating local crime.
