An altercation in southeast Houston escalated into gunfire on Saturday, with police officers shooting an armed suspect. The incident took place in the 8600 block of Comal Street, KTRK reported. Following the confrontation, the wounded suspect was transported to the hospital; however, no officers sustained injuries during the event.

The Houston Police Department has yet to disclose the sequence of events that led to the shooting, nor have they released the identity of the suspect or the officers involved. After the shooting, taken to hospital in a stable condition, the suspect stands at the heart of an investigation that is still unfolding.

Authorities were quick to respond to the scene, with HPD commanders and a Public Information Officer heading to Comal Street to oversee the incident's aftermath and begin the inquiry into its causes. The department's immediate release of information on X confirmed that the suspect was armed and underscored the absence of physical harm to law enforcement personnel.
