Bay Area Braces for Heat Wave, Inland Areas to Hit Triple Digits Next Week, NWS WarnsSource: Dan Bluestein, CC BY 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons

As Bay Area residents enjoy relatively cool and season-appropriate temperatures this weekend, the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA warns of an impending significant warm-up early next week. Temperatures close to the coast are expected to remain in the comfortable 60's and 70's while the inland areas may experience highs in the upper 80's to mid 90's, according to NWS Bay Area.

However, a pattern change, as reported by the Area Forecast Discussion from the National Weather Service, will bring about a notable temperature increase, with inland regions bracing for triple-digit heat. The warm-up is tied to a high-pressure system expected to strengthen about 1000 miles west of the Bay Area and shift eastward toward Northern California. Monitoring potential excessive heat, especially for the second half of next week, is crucial for residents' safety and comfort.

The NWS has also highlighted the redevelopment of low clouds near the coast, particularly around the San Francisco Peninsula and the Monterey Bay region. These clouds are anticipated to retreat towards the coast come afternoon, but a return of cooler temperatures is expected at night, with minimum temperatures dropping into the upper 40's in the North Bay and along the San Francisco Peninsula, and low-to-mid 50's elsewhere.

In marine conditions, fresh to strong northwest winds persist into the next week, potentially easing to more moderate levels beyond. A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect in various coastal areas through the weekend, as significant wave heights are forecast to reach 10-12 feet at the start of the next work week, the National Weather Service reports.
