The ordeal ensued at approximately 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Future Drive and Vance Jackson Road, according to a police statement.

The mother of the victims, who has chosen to remain anonymous, citing concerns for her family's safety, shared with KENS 5 the harrowing details of the incident. Reportedly intending to make a quick trip to McDonalds, the siblings were approached by five masked individuals, allegedly in their late teens to early twenties, driving a brown Kia SUV. The assailants, armed and demanding, quickly escalated the situation to violence.

In her recounting of the events, the mother explained that while her younger son promptly surrendered his iPhone to the robbers, the older brother encountered a ferocious struggle due to his tight-fitting pants. He was subsequently pistol-whipped, leaving him to require six stitches. "Since his pants were more tight, they couldn’t get anything out of his pocket," she told KENS 5. "They hit him over the head with a gun, and took off."

Shaken, and now fearful to even step outside, the boys are left profoundly traumatized by the occurrence. The mother echoed this sentiment, offering a word of caution to others: "I just want everyone to be careful when they are going out. Don’t sit in your car, just looking at your phone, look at your surroundings."
