A community alert issued by the department details a series of incidents that occurred in quick succession in the city's 8th, 9th, and 12th Districts. According to the Chicago Police Department, three armed individuals conducted the robberies in the early hours of June 26, 2024.
The suspects, described as three male blacks between the ages of 20 and 27, have reportedly used a stolen silver 2018 Hyundai Sonata as their getaway vehicle. Witnesses say the men were clad in black clothing and ski masks. They approached their victims at gunpoint, demanding personal belongings before fleeing the scene. In one reported case, a victim was pistol-whipped, demonstrating the assailants' willingness to use violence. The robberies took place within a one-hour timeframe at diverse locations, including the 3000 block of South Archer Ave, and the 2300 block of West Cermak Rd, as per the Chicago Police Department.
The department has not only shared descriptions of the suspects but is also asking the public to assist in identifying the individuals by noting any unique features such as scars, limps, or dental characteristics. Authorities emphasize the importance of personal safety, advising against pursuing suspects or resisting robbery attempts.
