Tragedy struck on Father's Day in Houston when a 71-year-old man, identified as Bill Fazenbaker, was found dead, believed to be beaten by his own stepson. The Houston Police Department was alerted to the incident early in the morning at an apartment on Sherwood Lane, where Fazenbaker suffered a violent death, as Click2Houston reported. His stepson, Ricky Ray Allen Jr., has been taken into custody following the incident.

According to KTRK, the early morning events unfolded when Allen and his mother approached a police officer at a convenience store and he claimed to have assaulted Fazenbaker in self-defense after the older man came at him with a knife. The discovery of Fazenbaker's body, amidst broken furnishings in his apartment, led to Allen's arrest.

Neighbors expressed shock and sorrow upon learning of the death of Fazenbaker, who was described by a tearful neighbor as a "good person.” The neighbor had lived near Fazenbaker for nearly a decade, and reminisced about the difficult call informing them of Fazenbaker's death, recounted in an interview with Click2Houston.

"There's broken furniture," Sgt. Michael Cass of the Houston Police Department told reporters, "And like I said, our 71-year-old victim is badly beaten to the face and body." Details from the crime scene hint at the ferocity of the altercation that occurred, evoking deep sadness from Sgt. Cass about the tragic circumstances on Father’s Day, as KTRK outlined.

As of now, the Houston Police Department has not released the specific charges Allen is facing.
