A man is now behind bars linked to the death of another man, authorities said, following an early morning report of an assault in an apartment complex. The Houston Police Department reported the arrest of Ricky Ray Allen, age 48, on murder charges in connection to an incident that occurred in the 4100 block of Sherwood Lane.

Officers, who were dispatched to the scene shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday, discovered the elder man unresponsive within his residence, having suffered blunt force trauma, according to City of Houston News. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead on the scene. As the investigation unfolded, the victim's stepson, Allen, allegedly confessed to actively participating in the act that led to the man's death, resulting in his subsequent arrest and charge.
