In a move aimed at bolstering the fight against domestic violence in Miami-Dade County, a new hotline has been established for those in immediate need. The Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) updated the hotline number for its four certified domestic violence shelters, as stated on the county's official release. Available 24/7, the new contact at 305-679-0303 aims to offer quicker and more effective support for victims and their dependents.

During an announcement, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava highlighted the importance of addressing domestic violence. "The safety and well-being of our residents is my top priority; as a social worker who has launched innovative programs for victims of domestic violence, I am passionate about ending the cycle of violence," she said. According to the county's update, this revamped hotline not only acts as a crucial link that connects victims to immediate assistance but also as a testament to the mayor's commitment to utilizing all available resources to prevent violence.

The hotline is staffed with advocates trained in safety planning, crisis intervention, and providing information and referrals. Recognizing the county's diverse population, the service offers support in English, Spanish, and Creole. For those speaking other languages, interpreting services are available in over 170 languages, along with TTY services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Expressing her support for the Violence Prevention and Intervention Division's work, CAHSD Director Sonia J. Grice stated, “I commend the Violence Prevention and Intervention Division for their dedicated efforts to address domestic violence in our community." With over 30 years of experience backing their comprehensive service offerings, CAHSD strives to respond to community needs promptly, ensuring that residents in crisis can access crucial support services whenever they are needed, as mentioned in the announcement.

Domestic violence impacts individuals from all walks of life, regardless of socioeconomic status, race, gender, or educational background. The authorities emphasize the importance of recognizing the signs of abuse and seeking help promptly. For those at risk, contact can be made with the Miami-Dade County SafeSpace Shelters 24-hour hotline at 305-679-0303, or with the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or TTY 1-800-787-3224, ensuring every call for help is heard and acted upon.
