The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on July 20 listed three rare South Florida reptiles as endangered, citing habitat loss and climate pressures that leave only scattered pockets for the animals to survive.

UF researchers tracked a tagged python to a hidden nest near Everglades Holiday Park, removed about 15–20 eggs for study and released the mother.
