A man has been apprehended by the Miami Police in connection to an auto burglary at a Home Depot last November, and it turns out he may be facing even bigger legal issues. The arrest occurred after police spotted an individual they believe to be responsible for swiping roughly $1,000 worth of goods from a shopper's car in Miami. According to WSVN, the arrestee, identified as 53-year-old Jesus Fernandez, is now also linked to other serious allegations.

Camila Rodriguez, the aggrieved party in the theft, had her car burglarized while it was parked at the Home Depot located at 2999 SW 32nd Ave. "It recorded a man taking out all of the bags on his shoulder and then realized he didn't have enough," Rodriguez notably told 7News after the incident. She went further to explain how the thief had to utilize a shopping cart to carry away the remainder of her stolen Christmas presents. The Miami Police were able eventually to identify and locate Fernandez through department coordination and surveillance footage captured by the victim's Tesla.

This week, Fernandez found himself before a judge, faced with third-degree felony burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and third-degree grand theft charges. But the depth of his troubles doesn't stop there. During his apprehension, authorities unveiled that Interpol and ICE had an existing warrant out for his arrest, related to accusations of smuggling people across the Mexican border. The information shared by Michael Vega, the Public Information Officer for the Miami Police Department, positions Fernandez at the heart of a potentially larger, multifarious criminal enterprise.

As reported by NBC Miami, Fernandez is now to to be held at a Miami-Dade jail on a $17,150 bond. His capture appears to be a concerted victory for multiple law enforcement agencies, both domestic and international, aligning against the lawlessness he is accused to have perpetuated. Fernandez now awaits the unfolding of justice as he confronts charges not just for the theft in Miami but for what seems to be an extensive pattern of similar crimes throughout Miami-Dade and Doral.
