Murfreesboro Police Pursue Trio Suspected of ATM Heist Using Crowbar and Stolen TruckSource: Facebook/Murfreesboro TN Police Department

Murfreesboro, a scene all too reminiscent of a heist movie, found its way into real life over the weekend. According to WSMV, the local police are hunting for three individuals after an attempted break-in at an ATM using a crowbar and a stolen pickup truck. The incident occurred at Ascend Federal Credit Union on West Clark Boulevard in the early hours of a Sunday morning.

Officers arrived at the credit union at approximately 1:50 a.m., triggered by a burglary alarm. Once there, they found the ATM in question visibly damaged but not breached. Obtained surveillance footage, highlighted by WKRN, shows a male suspect with a crowbar in hand, making several attempts to force the machine open. Simultaneously, a second participant appears to fasten a chain from the machine to a red GMC Sierra pickup – later verified as stolen – the chain used by the suspect snapped during the attempt to uproot the ATM.

The footage further reveals, as the third suspect, presumably the getaway driver, made an unsuccessful pull to dislodge the ATM, leading to their hasty departure. As reported by Rutherford Source, the suspects were unsuccessful in their attempts and left the scene without any of the ATM's contents.

The Murfreesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division continues their search for the suspects actively. "Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Aaron Gonzalez at 629-201-5638 or email [email protected]," said MPD in a statement obtained by WSMV. As the three individuals' investigation continues, local residents are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information that may aid in the case.
