The Phoenix Police Department has released footage from a recent officer-involved shooting that occurred on June 2, 2024. According to a police statement, the incident started when police were dispatched to the location of 13th Street and Palm Lane responding to reports of a man with a gun attempting a motorcycle theft.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a man who matched the description provided by the 911 caller. The man, seated on a motorcycle and holding a firearm, pointed the gun at the approaching officers as they exited their patrol car. This action prompted both officers, belonging to the Mountain View Precinct with six and four years of service respectively, to discharge their weapons at the armed individual.
