On Saturday night, a routine traffic stop turned dangerous on the Southeast side of the city when two San Antonio police officers were injured by a suspect who fled the scene in his vehicle, dragging them along. According to FOX San Antonio, the incident occurred around 11:40 pm near Pecan Valley Drive and Sargent Street, the officers had detained a man and a woman for questioning, but the situation escalated when the man broke free and jumped into the driver's seat, speeding away with the officers still clinging to the car for about ten yards.

The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) reported that the male suspect who was initially a passenger in the vehicle, managed to escape from the officers and attempt to drive off which resulted in both officers being dragged a short distance before falling to the ground, the officers sustained minor injuries, described as scratches and road rash, and were treated at the scene by EMS without needing hospitalization. KSAT detailed further that the male suspect had fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle shortly after the incident.

In the aftermath of the endangerment to their colleagues, local law enforcement has launched a search for the suspect, who as of the latest reports, remains at large. The woman involved in the initial traffic stop was taken into custody and remains there for questioning.
