San Antonio Zoo Offers Special $8 Admission for Bexar County Residents on Select June DaysSource: Facebook/San Antonio Zoo

The summer heat is here and so is a cool deal for residents of Bexar County, who are getting two chances to visit the San Antonio Zoo at a discounted rate. On Monday, June 17, and again on Friday, June 21, locals can enjoy the zoo's attractions for just $8 per person, KENS5 reports. In a show of appreciation to those residing in the vicinity, the zoo is slashing its admission fees, and all that's required to snap up this deal is proof of residing in Bexar County, such as an ID or a utility bill.

These Local Days not only offer a price cut but also serve as an educational platform where guests can learn about the zoo's dedication to conservation, animal care, and the preservation of future wildlife, according to the zoo. Yet, there is a small catch. As part of a June promotion, the zoo is providing one free zoo experience with each ticket purchased; however, this particular perk will be put on pause during the discount days, as noted by KSAT. Regular perks will resume on all other days in June, presumably to manage crowds and resources effectively.

In addition to the rollback on admission prices is the zoo's current special exhibit that's been drumming up excitement. The Dino Adventure Park is open to visitors and comes with no additional fee with the purchase of an admission ticket. This roaring experience is available until September 2, giving families plenty of time to make a prehistoric pit-stop.

Beyond the summer discounts, the zoo also is showing some love to educators with its Teacher Appreciation Month promotion, which includes gratis standard admission for teachers and a 50-percent discount for up to four guests, wrapping up on June 31. Those unable to make it to the zoo this week need not fret—there are more Local Days slated for later in the year, according to the zoo’s announcement. With additional Local Days listed, including dates in July, August, September, October, November, and December, there appears to be ample opportunity for locals to take advantage of these wallet-friendly offers.

For more details or to purchase tickets in advance, residents can visit the zoo's website.
