SUV Plows Into Hialeah Home, Elderly Residents and Baby UnharmedSource: Google Street View

A routine afternoon in Hialeah was disrupted when an SUV crashed into a residential home after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. According to Local 10 News, the incident occurred around 11:05 a.m. near Southeast First Street and Ninth Avenue, when the driver of the SUV hit another car before careening into the house.

The collision led to significant structural damage. A Jeep SUV was found completely inside the residence, while another car was seen on the sidewalk with nearby foliage flattened under its weight. Lt. Carlos González of the Hialeah Fire Department detailed that the SUV driver lost control, leading to the sequence of destructive events. "Loud crash -- it was like an explosion," described a substantially shaken Dennis, a neighbor who witnessed the impact, to Local 10 News.

Inside the home at the time of the crash were two elderly residents and a 7-month-old baby, who miraculously escaped injury. The brother of one of the occupants reportedly exchanged words with the SUV driver, who appeared to have been the sole individual in the vehicle. "Just one guy. He say the brakes don’t work properly and he tried to stop, and then he pressed the gas instead," the brother told Local 10 News, recounting the driver’s claimed account of the events leading up to the crash.

Following the crash, the building department has deemed the house unsafe and it has since been condemned. Hialeah Police has begun an investigation into the incident, while the local fire department and tow trucks worked to address the immediate aftermath. As covered by WSVN, the driver, along with the home’s occupants, was not reported one to have any injuries. Details on when or if the family will be able to return to their home remain uncertain at this time.
