In a routine operation that swiftly turned into a criminal bust, the Windsor Police Department apprehended an alleged gang affiliate last night. Identified as 18-year-old Victor Avila, subject to a probation search at his Windsor residence, where multiple firearms and gang insignia were discovered. The search, which took place around 8:50 pm on the 700 block of Oak Park Street, was part of the conditions laid down when Avila, who was previously arrested for DUI in March, was released under his own recognizance.

Avila's freedom came with the proviso that he consents to warrantless searches, a clause that led to his recent arrest. During the search, deputies uncovered two loaded firearms equipped with high-capacity magazines and ammunition, along with attire believed to be tied to gang activities. Additionally, a Glock-style airsoft handgun was seized from the family's living room, according to the Town of Windsor Police Department.

The items found in Avila’s possession precipitated multiple misdemeanor charges, including contempt of court and minor in possession of ammunition, and felonies such as altering a firearm serial number and illegal possession of a firearm by a minor. After being booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility, Avila managed to post the $10,000 bail set and has been released pending further legal proceedings.
