Perfect Storm of BBQ, Jazz, and Ross Mirkarimi at Lower Haters ThursdayPhilippines Today
For more than seven years he's been your Supervisor (well, probably), and now he's running for Sheriff. Meet Ross Mirkarimi, the man behind the ubiquitous yellow signs, Thursday night at Lower Haters.

The shop/gallery hosts a meet-and-greet with Mirkarimi, who has served as Supervisor of District 5 since 2004. The Lower Haight is mostly -- but not entirely -- contained within District 5. If you live north of Waller, you're probably in it; if you're south, you're probably in District 8, which is repped by Scott Wiener. Regardless, if you're a San Franciscan, Mirkarimi is fixin' to be your next sheriff. And he'll be holding it down at Lower Haters Thursday night to hear your suggestions and answer all your burning sheriffy questions -- like, "San Francisco has a sheriff?" And, "what's a sheriff, exactly?" A good ol'-fashioned sheriff-wranglin' deserves some good BBQ, and Memphis Minnie's is happy to oblige, providing free bites for the event. Plus, there'll be live music from the TopCat Jazz Trio to drown out complement all that political talk. This all goes down Thursday night, from 7pm to 10pm, at Lower Haters (597 Haight). And yes, it's free.
