This past weekend, construction crews were hard at work outside of the former Park's Farmers Market at 840 Irving.

Closed since early fall of 2013, the location has yet to post any details regarding future plans. So the appearance of construction crews raises the question of what exactly is being put in place there. We requested information as to the nature of the upcoming space from one of the workers, but he declined to comment. According to the San Francisco Planning Department, a permit was approved in December of 2013, authorizing an interior remodel and façade renovation of both the former Farmers Market and a single attached residential unit. We also contacted the Planning Department’s Sharon Young, who reports that, as of now, the space is being readied for a proposed Medical Center. Young states that it is still early in the approval process, and that there are some existing discrepancies with the location’s actual address, listed in the permit as 1280 10th St. As pertaining to policy, a hearing will be scheduled prior to final approval of any new location. According to Young, the location is still in an early developmental phase, and any details regarding onsite plans should be posted publicly as soon as they are finalized.
