A new Italian spot, offering pizza and more, has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The fresh arrival to La Cañada Flintridge, called Stella's Pizza Kitchen, is located at 456 Foothill Blvd.
The family-run pizzeria specializes in New York-style pies and Italian favorites, "just like Mama did," according to the business' Facebook page.
On the menu, expect to see starters like fried mozzarella, meatballs and sausage; an assortment of Italian-inspired salads; and hero sandwiches like the "Italian Grinder" with prosciutto, mortadella and ham.
For "Stella's Favorites," look for dishes such as Mama's lasagna, baked ziti, stromboli and sausage rolls.
Pizza is sold by the slice or can be custom made with toppings like pepperoni, artichokes, anchovies and more.
With a 4.5-star rating out of 64 reviews on Yelp so far, Stella's Pizza Kitchen has been warmly received by patrons.
David J., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on April 29, said, "Okay, this place has taken number one on our lists of pizza places to go to. There are (somewhat) better New York-style pizzas out there, but no Chicago-style thick ones top it."
And Alain C. said, "Tiny place with good simple pizza, New York-style. The pepperoni slice I had really brought me back to NY a little bit. Super thin and somewhat crispy crust (from the reheat) and fresh cheese."
