It’s time for another roundup of notable crimes reported to the Tenderloin Police station. All details come from SFPD reports unless otherwise noted.
Fire hydrant smashed by stolen car
According to citizen.com, a stolen vehicle struck a fire hydrant at the corner of Turk and Larkin streets around 3:15 p.m. on September 22.
The report suggests the car was a stolen Toyota Highlander. The driver, said to be a 5’9” man wearing a red hoodie, grey shirt, and blue jeans, allegedly bragged to the complainant that the car was “hot.”
The hydrant caused some flooding on the street, but was shut off by firefighters by 3:32 p.m. The suspect remains at large.
Fight leads to stabbing injury
Around 3 a.m. on September 20, a 44-year-old man had an argument with two men, said to be 34 years old, near the intersection of Larkin and O’Farrell streets. One of the suspects cut the man with a knife before fleeing the scene. No arrests have been made.
Man stabbed in three-on-one attack
Three men said to be in their forties approached a 51-year-old man around 4 a.m. on September 20, near the intersection of Market and Eddy streets. The three suspects drew knives and physically assaulted the victim, causing non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects stole the victim's phone, clothes, backpack, and wallet, including cash and credit cards. They have not been identified.
Robbery victim tackles, detains suspect
Around 8:49 p.m. on September 17, a 22-year-old man approached a 40-year-old man on the unit block of 10th Street (near Market), grabbed the older man’s backpack, and fled on foot.
The victim chased the suspect, tackled him, and detained him until officers arrived and arrested him. His backpack was recovered.
Teens arrested after stealing couple’s cash
Three teenage suspects, ages 16 and 17, reached into the pockets of 21-year-old and 30-year-old men and stole their money on the 800 block of Market Street (near 4th) around 10:50 p.m. on September 16th. A struggle ensued, and the suspects fled. The three suspects were later located and arrested by SFPD officers.
Robber punches man before snatching bag
A man said to be in his late teens punched a 25-year-old man on the unit block of Mason Street (near Market) around 7:30 p.m. on September 13. The suspect stole the victim’s backpack and bike lock, and fled southbound on Mason Street.
Woman pushed and robbed from behind
Around 6:49 p.m. on September 12, a man said to be in his twenties pushed a 52-year-old woman from behind on the 1200 block of Market Street (near Hyde). The suspect then snatched the woman’s cell phone from her hand, as well as her ATM and credit cards, drivers license and cash. The suspect has not been identified.
Robber ditches purse after snatching valuables
A woman, said to be 25, approached a 27-year-old woman around 9 p.m. on September 10 on the 800 block of Market Street (near Stockton). The suspect grabbed the woman’s purse, and a struggle ensued.
The victim followed as the suspect fled with the purse into the Powell Street BART station. Although the woman found her purse, it was empty and she was missing her ID card and credit cards. No arrests have been made.
Man arrested after argument leads to stabbing
A 23-year-old man and and a 30-year-old man had an argument that ended in the younger man stabbing the older one. The incident occurred around noon on September 10, near the intersection of O’Farrell and Cyril Magnin streets; SFPD officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Man assaulted and robbed after confrontation
Around 8:30 p.m. on September 7, a 43-year-old man was walking near the intersection of Market and 6th streets when he heard a man said to be in his early sixties and a man said to be in his late twenties yelling at him.
The victim confronted the two men, both of whom punched him before fleeing the scene. The victim later realized his phone was also missing. Neither suspect has been identified.
