The Denver Post's Lisa Kennedy said, "'Moonlight' arrives as a gift, one worth keeping — and regifting," while M. Faust of the Public (Buffalo) noted, "Just go see it. You'll be glad you did."

With a Tomatometer Score of 97 percent and an Audience Score of 79 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, "Mad Max: Fury Road" has been a favorite of critics.

"Happy end of the world," according to Alison Willmore of BuzzFeed News, while ReelViews' James Berardinelli said, "'Mad Max: Fury Road' delivers. There's no clearer or more succinct way to put it. Thirty years after last appearing on the big screen, Max roars back with a vengeance."

Catch it on the big screen at Balboa Theater (3630 Balboa St.) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Hail Satan?

A look at the intersection of religion and activism, tracing the rise of The Satanic Temple: only six years old and already one of the most controversial religious movements in American history. The Temple is calling for a Satanic revolution to save the nation's soul. But are they for real?

With a Tomatometer Score of 95 percent and an Audience Score of 77 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, "Hail Satan?" has garnered plenty of praise since its release on April 17.

"Consistent with her oeuvre, what [director Penny Lane] finds is surprising and much deeper and more important than the surface of goth makeup, unsettling rituals and weird symbolism initially suggests," noted Ann Hornaday of the Washington Post.

In the mood for popcorn? It's playing at Roxie Theater (3117 16th St.) through Thursday, May 9. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Avengers: Endgame

After the devastating events of "Avengers: Infinity War," the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos' actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.

With a Tomatometer Score of 95 percent and an Audience Score of 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, "Avengers: Endgame" has garnered plenty of praise since its release on April 26. The San Diego Reader's Matthew Lickona said, "The MCU will go on and on, but this chapter — and the American pragmatism vs. American ideals bromance that drove it — have well and truly come to their 'Excelsior! Nuff said!' moment," and Slate's Dana Stevens noted, "'Endgame' consists almost entirely of the downtime scenes that were always secretly everyone's favorite parts of these movies anyway."

Get a piece of the action at AMC Metreon 16 (135 Fourth St., Suite 3000), Balboa Theater (3630 Balboa St.), Marina Theatre (2149 Chestnut St.) and Century San Francisco Centre 9 and XD (845 Market St.) through Wednesday, May 8. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Us

Husband and wife Gabe and Adelaide Wilson take their kids to their beach house expecting to unplug and unwind with friends. But as night descends, their serenity turns to tension and chaos when some shocking visitors arrive uninvited.

With a Tomatometer Score of 94 percent and an Audience Score of 66 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, "Us" has become a favorite since its release on March 22. BuzzFeed News' Alison Willmore said, "'Us' revolves around an allegory that's more elastic and resistant to parsing than megahit 'Get Out,'" while Ben Sachs of the Chicago Reader stated, "It achieves an insidious, lingering effect that's rarer in the horror genre."

It's playing at AMC Metreon 16 (135 Fourth St., Suite 3000) through Monday, May 6; and Presidio Theatre (2340 Chestnut St.) through Wednesday, May 8. Click here for showtimes and tickets.
