Montesacro Pinseria brings Italian fare to WilliamsburgPhoto: Mike C./Yelp

A new Italian spot and pizzeria has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Montesacro Pinseria, the newcomer is located at 432 Union Ave. in Williamsburg.

Montesacro Pinseria serves up traditional Italian dishes with a special focus on the cuisine of Rome. On the menu, diners will find an assortment of light antipasti, cheese and charcuterie boards, and a variety of pinsas — ancient Roman flatbreads topped with meat, cheese, vegetables and other ingredients. According to the business' Facebook page, "Pinsa is the ancestor of pizza, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, made with soy, rice and wheat flour all imported from Rome and GMO free." Montesacro Pinseria also offers a selection of wines from Italy and elsewhere around Europe and the Mediterranean.

Montesacro Pinseria has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Danielle U., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 6, wrote, "I love this place! The food is delicious, well thought out and so satisfying. There are many diverse options on the menu, but the pinsa is absolutely the star."

And Daniel M. wrote, "The pastas (especially the Cacio e Pepe) are as authentic as dining out at a neighborhood eatery in Rome, and I really enjoyed this restaurant's take on pinsa."

Montesacro Pinseria Brooklyn is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on weekdays; for dinner from 5 p.m.–10:30 p.m. on Sunday-Thursday and from 5 p.m.–11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; and for brunch from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on weekends.
