The Afghanistan Freeharmonic Orchestra (AFO), a group of local and international musicians, is scheduled for a live performance at the Cambridge Public Library on Saturday, October 21st. This performance aims to raise awareness of the ongoing Afghanistan crisis and promote unity and healing through music.

Co-founders Qudrat Wasefi and Dan Blackwell established the AFO focusing on Afghan music, and to challenge themselves with Western and global melodies. Their unique approach of virtual collaboration enables them to produce original compositions, despite being spread across various locations.

With no need for registration, their upcoming concert at the Cambridge Public Library marks their second group engagement. 

Their previous performance saw a diverse audience demonstrating how music can overcome language constraints and create a universal form of communication. The AFO continues providing a platform to share experiences and stories that often go unheard.

As reported by a Cambridge Public Library news announcement, the local programming is aligned with AFO's goals. The Library offers a space that embraces multiple perspectives, ideally suited for promoting empathy and unity through art.
