Announced today, the cash infusion from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) aims to boost surveillance along bustling state routes and city streets, with a focus on high-traffic events and emergencies. "As governor, there is nothing more important to me than keeping Illinoisans safe—in our schools, at our parks, and on our streets," Pritzker stated, emphasizing the initiative's commitment to public safety.

Ensuring that the state's road warriors, be they drivers, cyclists, or pedestrians, can cruise along without coming to harm, the deal struck with City Hall could mean cameras popping up at many more corners.
