Tim Walz and family adopted a rescue cat named Honey, an orange and white bundle of furriness that's already claimed her favorite haunts around the home. Walz shared the news of the new family member on Wednesday, disclosing that their previous cat, Afton, has been missing since August despite the family's efforts and hopes for his return.

According to CBS News Minnesota, Honey has taken a liking to nestling under the Christmas tree and has also developed a penchant for lounging atop whatever paperwork the governor is trying to focus on. The adoption news has struck a chord with animal lovers online, several X users gushed over Honey's cuteness, with user Emily commenting, "Please tell Honey that she's perfect and I love her."

Previously, the Walz family had faced the unfortunate incident of Afton, the family's former pet cat, going missing. Afton is said to have slipped out of his Apple AirTag collar, leaving no digital breadcrumbs behind to aid his recovery.

Still, the governor hasn't lost hope, as recounted on MPR News, stating that he is still looking for Afton and hopes, he will return home.
