Fort Worth Teams Up with Sprocket Networks to Weave High-Speed Fiber Optic Network, Combatting Digital DivideSource: Google Street View

Sprocket Networks is set to give Fort Worth a major digital boost. The local firm has landed a deal with the City to string up a high-speed fiber optic network, promising to zap the digital divide and connect underserved areas. Homes and businesses in Fort Worth can buckle up for a future of multi-gigabit internet speeds, with Sprocket Networks spearheading the operation.

"We believe that everyone should have access to affordable, high-speed internet, and we are committed to bridging the digital divide in our community," Sprocket Networks President Will Gibson said. Under the initiative, dubbed Fort Worth Fiber, subscribers are in line for lightning-fast browsing, streaming, and gaming experiences, without the drag of asymmetrical speeds or spotty coverage, according to the City of Fort Worth.

Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker is all in on the push for digital equality. "The expansion of broadband access is a critical part of our efforts to close the digital divide and ensure that all residents have access to the internet," she said. "The internet is essential for education, employment and economic development, and we are grateful for Sprocket Networks’ investment in our city." With this partnership, the city is en route to a more connected, tech-forward future, as per the City of Fort Worth.

Over 300 miles of the shiny new fiber optic cables will be laid around Fort Worth starting in 2024, kicking off a broader citywide connectivity transformation. And for those eager to get on board, there’s already a waitlist up at fwfiber.com. Previously, Fort Worth has dipped into its tech budget to draw in Sprocket Networks and has begun offering free Wi-Fi hotspots in several under-served neighborhoods around the town, a move that complements the free guest Wi-Fi found in libraries and community centers.

Known for plugging in high-rise dwellers and businesses to top-tier internet, Sprocket Networks has a track record in North Texas for spreading digital inclusion. This latest venture is another notch in their belt, aiming to guarantee that Fort Worth’s community doesn't just stay connected but thrives in the increasingly digital landscape. More than just a local internet vendor, Sprocket cements itself as a pivotal player in the city's tech-advancement saga.
