Local Artist Molly Aubry's 'Prismatic Tessellations' Enlivens West Palm Beach With Colorful Steel SculpturesSource: West Palm Beach

Steel sculptures are bringing a pop of color and design to Northwood Village, thanks to local artist Molly Aubry's latest work, Prismatic Tessellations. The installation features geometric shapes and iridescent glass, adding a new layer of visual interest to the West Palm Beach community. According to a press release from the city, the vibrant steel creations are part of an initiative by the West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and ArtLife WPB, aiming to enrich the neighborhood with unique public art.

Displaying a departure from her usual media of paintings and photographs, Aubry has ventured into metal sculpture, drawing inspiration from her small paper sculptures. Installed at Blum Park and surrounding areas in Northwood Village, these structures invite onlookers to interact with art in their everyday spaces. Commissioned by the CRA, the artist’s imagination was sparked, according to the city's announcement, by the potential of seeing her miniature paper forms in a larger-than-life context.

The new installation not only enhances the visual appeal of the community but also contributes to the CRA's broader mission of stimulating economic growth and improving quality of life. Sybille Welter, Director of Art, Culture, and Community Building, articulated the goal behind these efforts, stating “ArtLife strives to provide local artists with opportunities to create unique artworks that reflect the cultural makeup of our city. Further, we advocate for integrating artworks into the fabric of community life. These new pieces both visual and auditory reflect our goals.”

Prismatic Tessellations is the latest endeavor reflecting Northwood Village's transformation into a hub of artistic expression. The sculptures stand as unintentional guards, a testament to the power of creativity, at various corners throughout the neighborhood, beaconing people towards play and discovery. Residents and visitors are encouraged by the CRA to visit Blum Park at 2301 Spruce Avenue and immerse themselves in the beauty of Aubry's steel sculptures.
