Officers arriving on scene discovered the injured woman, an employee of the store in her 40s, who was struck while either on her break, or just finishing her shift. While the investigation is still ongoing, police suspect the driver, taken into custody for an alleged DWI, was in his 20s. In the pickup area of the parking lot, where the collision occurred, the driver's speed was not immediately clear, according to KSAT.

First responders including the San Antonio Police Department, the Fire Department, and EMS arrived at the parking lot, quickly transporting the woman to an area hospital by ambulance. The driver, suspected of driving while intoxicated, was arrested by the San Antonio Police at the scene, a fact confirmed by both KENS 5 and KSAT.
