Victoria Fire Department Veteran Joins Local Dive Team, Enhancing Community InvolvementSource: Facebook/Carver County Sheriff's Office

Rick, a seasoned veteran of the Victoria Fire Department with over four decades of service, recently joined the local dive team, adding to his long history of community involvement. This addition comes after a couple of collaborative calls between the fire department and the dive team piqued his interest. "I thought the dive team was an interesting organization, and enjoyed working with the guys on the dive team. So I joined," Rick told Carver County Sheriff's Office in a recent spotlight interview.

Among the various activities he's been involved in, Rick finds joy, especially in supporting the annual Polar plunge, which is a testament to his commitment to service and enthusiasm for community events. "I enjoy helping with the Polar plunge every year, great to see everyone that comes out for the day," he mentioned, signifying that the fulfillment for him comes not just from the rescue and recoveries, but also from the energetic community participation.

Professionally, Rick used to be the owner and operator of his own business, which he has recently sold. Though partially retired, he continues to work part-time for the company that took over his business, demonstrating a drive to remain actively involved in the workforce even as he transitions into retirement.

Outside his professional spheres, Rick is a family man with a passion for the outdoors. He treasures hunting, fishing, and family vacations, often retreating to a cabin with his wife, two kids, and five grandchildren. This love for family and nature is deeply rooted in who he is, much like his dedication to public service has defined his years with the fire department.

The Carver County Sheriff's Office took to Facebook to express gratitude for Rick's continued service, "Thank you Rick for your continued service with the Dive Team!" With a record spanning more than forty-six years with the Victoria Fire Department, Rick remains a stalwart figure both in his professional endeavors and his voluntary endeavors with the dive team, offering a story of dedication that blends the lines of vocation and avocation seamlessly.
