A man has been collared by the cops for a gunpoint mugging in Northwest D.C., authorities said.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District sleuths put the cuffs on 19-year-old Elijah A. Hernandez, of Northwest, following an investigation into the April 26 heist. According to the police report, the victim recounted that while he was in the 5300 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, a duo of roughnecks confronted him. With a gun aimed at him, the victim was forced, to hand over the goods. While one thug brandished the weapon, the other rifled through the victim's pockets, filching their belongings before they both skedaddled on foot.

Hernandez was snared by detectives yesterday and is now facing charges for Armed Robbery (gun), as detailed in the MPD's public announcement. The brazen theft occurred at 1:10 a.m. and quickly escalated when the firearm was thrust into the fray, police said.

Hernandez is currently awaiting further legal proceedings, and the department is continuing the search for his alleged accomplice.
