A suspect was shot and killed by a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent yesterday afternoon outside a Pizza Hut on Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach, with officials stating that there was no further threat to the community following the incident, WPBF reported.

The shooting prompted a substantial police response, the West Palm Beach police department aided DEA agents in securing the scene at the shopping plaza which houses the fast-food restaurant, the DEA confirmed that while they were conducting an authorized law enforcement action the suspect, who has not yet been identified publicly, died at the scene according to WPTV.

The DEA has been tight-lipped regarding the details of the shooting and what specifically the agent was investigating at the time, asserting that the situation is under investigation and no further information will be disclosed at this time.

A local, Arlene Delima who was getting her nails done close by recounted to WPTV reporter Joel Lopez "I was here with my coworker and my client getting our nails done... what I heard was 'pow pow,'" adding to the tension of the situation, she described how "All the entrances are blocked, you know, it's kinda scary," and acknowledging the fear instilled by the incident she said, "This is really scary, the holiday hasn't even started yet." as her testimonial casts a light on the palpable fear that gripped bystanders during the shooting.

The DEA, maintaining the security of the scene has reiterated that the incident presents no current threat to citizens in the surrounding area, nonetheless, the community awaits further details as the investigation unfolds.
