A man from Guatemala is behind bars in Florida on allegations of kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor. Marvin Perez Lopez was taken into custody by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office this past weekend, with the crimes reported to have involved a child under the age of 13.

As informed by BocaNewsNow.com, Lopez, labeled by authorities as an "illegal," had found his way to Florida in late January after leaving Guatemala at the start of the year. After crossing through Mexico, he surrendered to Border Patrol, was issued a court date for 2027, and subsequently released. Now, Lopez faces severe legal challenges as he is currently detained in PBC Jail without bond.

This disturbing case echoes an earlier incident reported by NBC6 affiliate WPTV, where three undocumented immigrants from Guatemala were accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman in Palm Beach County. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office stated the alleged victim managed to escape and get help from a passerby during the March incident.

Andres Felipe Morales, Darinel Ordonez Jjimenez, and Marcos Felipe Ramirez, the individuals accused in the previous case, are facing charges ranging from sexual assault to felony criminal conspiracy. According to NBC Miami, the suspects have been detained in the Palm Beach County jail, contributing to a growing discourse on crime involving undocumented immigrants in the region.
