A violent altercation spiraled into gunfire outside a bustling Nashville WeGo transit hub early Friday morning, leaving one man wounded and the suspected shooter in police custody, officials said. At about 6:20 a.m., shots rang out near the Elizabeth Duff Transit Center on Dr. M.L.K. Jr. Blvd;, Metro Nashville Police Department units rushed to the scene, locating the incident's site just outside, neighboring the flight of stairs drawing a line at the intersection of 4th Avenue North and James Robertson Pkwy, as reported by WSMV.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a disagreement had escalated between Dejuan Prime, 19, and a 20-year-old man which led to Prime allegedly firing his weapon, and striking the man, authorities confirmed Prime was apprehended by police without delay and is now facing attempted criminal homicide charges. The altercation did not seem to deter the regular flow of city life because WeGo services marched on uninterrupted during the morning chaos, a WeGo spokesperson affirmed, “We appreciate that MNPD has an enhanced police presence in that area of downtown. Meanwhile, the unidentified victim who suffered at least three gunshot wounds was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center; his injuries were reported as non-life-threatening, reported WKRN. While being taken into custody, Prime purportedly claimed he had been pepper-sprayed by the victim amid their row, prior to the shooting.
