A deadly confrontation in a McDonald's parking lot in Oak Park, Michigan, has left a 34-year-old Detroit man dead following a shootout on Saturday, according to local authorities. The dispute began with a verbal clash inside the eatery and quickly spiraled out of control, with bullets flying once it moved outside, The Detroit News reported.

Responding to 911 calls at approximately 11:15 a.m. near the intersection of Greenfield Road and 8 Mile Road, Oak Park Police arrived to find the two individuals had escalated their argument to a gunfight in the McDonald's lot, as stated in a police press release. The assailant, a 25-year-old Detroit man, who promptly fled the scene in his vehicle, was later taken into custody, driving away from where the man was mortally wounded.

Emergency services transported the injured man to Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield, where he succumbed to his gunshot wounds, FOX 2 Detroit noted. Oak Park Police do not currently believe there were other participants in the deadly encounter and have asked for anyone with information to step forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.

Oak Park Police have been since actively piecing together the sequence of events that led to the deadly altercation, with no additional suspects believed to be involved, as confirmed by WXYZ. First responders found the victim, who after they arrived was later declared deceased at a nearby medical facility.
