Boston Police have brought to a close a multi-year search, capturing a man linked to a 2019 stabbing in Roxbury. Adilson Tavares, 29, of Mattapan, was arrested on Saturday in Denis Street Park, Roxbury by the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force (YVSF) and is now facing a multitude of charges, including armed assault with intent to murder, according to the Boston Police Department's official release.

The encounter took place roughly at 12:05 PM when officers identified Tavares riding a motorized scooter. Their efforts quickly organized to prevent him from attempting to escape once he was sighted. Following a brief chase, Tavares attempted to hastily depart on his scooter but was apprehended after a brief struggle, as reported by the Boston Police Department. A recovered firearm within a fanny pack he wore added to the gravity of his offenses, marking a dangerous trend of carry and the potential to once again act with lethal intention.

The detailed police statement described the firearm as a 9 mm Bersa Thunder 9 Ultra Compact Pro, complete with a loaded 13-round magazine and an additional round in the chamber. Tavares is now slated to face the courts, with his arraignment in Roxbury District Court centering on the stabbing case, along with charges stemming from his recent arrest.

Apart from the original warrants, Tavares has also been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as carrying a loaded and large-capacity firearm. This, combined with charges of resisting arrest, creates a steep legal path ahead for Tavares in a system working to uphold a measure of justice within the bounds of public safety.
