On a recent Sunday night in Dorchester, the calm of the neighborhood was pierced by the sound of criminal activity. According to the Boston Police Department, officers from District B-3 were dispatched to the vicinity of the American Legion Hwy. near Franklin Park after a distress call reported by two individuals alleging an armed robbery.

The victims recounted to the police how a group of five or six males had approached them at approximately 8:42 PM near the intersection of American Legion Hwy. and Franklin Hill Ave. One member of the group menacingly produced a firearm from a fanny pack, threatening the victims into surrendering their moped scooters, along with a helmet, keys, wallet, a gold chain, and some medication. The suspects were last seen heading towards a large gathering within the confines of Franklin Park. Innovatively armed with the tracking capacity of an Apple Air Tag, the victims were able to continually monitor the location of one of their stolen mopeds, which they relayed to the officers in an area around 14 Richfield St, Dorchester.

Responding to the disclosed locale, officers from Districts B3 and B2 converged and found the two stolen moped scooters. In the course of their operations, they detained several males matching the victims' descriptions. Although the officers did not recover the firearm or all personal belongings initially reported stolen, they did identify and apprehend 39-year-old Roberto Santiago from Dorchester, pinpointing him as the suspect involved in the armed robbery. The recovered moped scooters and a helmet were subsequently returned to the rightful owners.

Roberto Santiago is slated to be arraigned at West Roxbury District Court on charges related to the armed robbery involving a firearm. In a tangential connection to the crime scene, Edvict Pimentel, a 37-year-old Dorchester resident, was arrested on account of two outstanding warrants. The Boston Police Department reported that he is to quickly face a judge in Dorchester District Court with charges lining up for Distribution of Class B Drugs and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License.
