The federal charges against Thomas encompass a period from 2017 through 2023, during which he allegedly neglected to pay over $2.5 million in employment taxes related to his businesses. Thomas, the proprietor of venues like Club ONE and Sports ONE, is accused of diverting these funds to personal expenditures, including cash withdrawals, travel, and property investments, as outlined in federal court records. Further complicating Thomas's financial and legal troubles, a Notice of Federal Tax Lien reveals an unpaid tax balance of $236,952.51 accrued by Sports ONE CLT LLC back in 2019. Although the club closed in the fall of 2022, this outstanding debt still casts a shadow over Thomas's past business dealings in the Charlotte area. His involvement with the local Drink scene was once celebrated, including the well-publicized grand opening of Sports ONE in 2014, where Thomas expressed his enthusiasm for the venture's potential.

In the wake of these charges, Thomas has accepted a plea deal with the potential consequence of a five-year prison sentence. Addressing his wrongdoing, Thomas conveyed remorse via social media, stating, "I’ve done some wrong that I have to make right.
