A domestic disturbance call in Sonoma County led to the unexpected discovery of an arsenal of illegal firearms, including a fully automatic rifle and multiple suppressors. Last Saturday, Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies initially responded to a potential domestic violence incident in the 13000 block of Arnold Drive but found no evidence to support those claims. According to the Sonoma Sheriff's Office, their investigation swiftly pivoted when they uncovered numerous firearms in the house, some of which appeared to be illegal.
Digging deeper into the matter, deputies detained 44-year-old Michael Morrison and promptly requested detectives from the Property Crimes unit to further investigate. From the outset, it was clear that vigilance had to be maintained to ensure a thorough investigation and thoroughly ascertain the extent of the illicit firearm possession. A search warrant procured by the detectives revealed a trove of illegal weaponry: a fully automatic AR-15 lower assembly, a short-barreled AR-15 upper, non-serialized lower assemblies, a loaded AK-47, firearms with attached suppressors, several high-capacity magazines, and the components to build an AK-47.
Michael Morrison now faces multiple felony weapons charges, including possession of a suppressor, large-capacity magazines, un-serialized firearms, a machine gun, and a short-barreled shotgun. He was taken into custody without incident, the Sheriff's Office reports, and was later released on $30,000 bail.
