As the 2024 MLB All-Star Week approaches, Arlington is gearing up for an influx of fans ready to celebrate America's pastime. The City of Arlington, in coordination with the Texas Rangers and Major League Baseball, has dedicated over a year to developing comprehensive safety and traffic plans, anticipating hundreds of thousands of visitors from July 12 through July 16. According to the City of Arlington, Texas, Deputy Police Chief Leo Daniels expressed confidence in the city's preparedness, citing previous major event successes like the Super Bowl and the Eras Tour by Taylor Swift.
Fans planning on joining the festivities are advised to allow for ample transit time to the Entertainment District venues. The city will be managing the expected vehicular demand with a strategic traffic management plan, which involves adjusting signal timings and activating reversible lanes to improve flow. Visitors are encouraged to use Waze for real-time navigation around traffic closures and detours. Intending to ensure fans can navigate the surge with ease, the city's Deputy Police Chief, according to an official statement, has underscored Arlington's readiness to handle the throngs likely to attend — a well-earned reputation sharpened by hosting grand-scale events.
Detailed parking information is available for each day's events, with lots of opening hours ahead of the scheduled activities. Ranger fans and event attendees can find specific lot information and times on the downloadable All-Star Week 2024 Parking Map. Among the array of events, parking will be available in various designated lots, such as Lots B through W for the games at Globe Life Field and Lots F through H for the All-Star Village at Choctaw Stadium and Arlington Expo Center.
Rideshare users, specifically those relying on services like Uber, Lyft, or Arlington On-Demand, should note the designated drop-off and pickup location along Chapman Cutoff, east of Globe Life Field. The city has made it clear, through visible signage and the enforcement by officers, that passenger unloading on roadways around the ballpark is prohibited, with the exception of the designated areas, to prevent the interruption of traffic flow. After events conclude, due to high demand, rideshare users should expect to wait and are reminded that drivers may not be able to reach them if they call from non-designated locations.
For fan safety, the Arlington Police Department will have a strong, visible presence both outside and inside the event venues, assisting with traffic control and pedestrian safety. Fans are asked to use designated crossings and heed the guidance of officers stationed at major intersections and venues. Any suspicious activity should immediately be reported to the nearest officer, stadium security staff, or a guest relations employee.
